The Department of History and Theory of Economy

The Department of History and Theory of Economy was founded in 2000. Today, the Department employs 15 highly-qualified teachers, including 3 professors and 7 associate professors (2 doctors and 10 candidates of economic science), 4 senior teachers, 1 assistant. Teachers of the Department teach the History of Economics and Economic Thought, the History of Economic Thought of Ukraine, Institutional Economics, Contemporary Economic Theory, Economic History, History of Economic Thought, which belong to the content of the fundamental economic courses that form the theoretical basis of the successful assimilation of special economic knowledge.

The Department has a graduate (2002) and postgraduate (2003) programs in "Economic Theory and History of Economic Thought." During this time, 2 doctoral and 15 candidate's theses were defended.

Department staff  prepared 15 training and educational textbooks and manuals, 5 monographs and 2 collective monographs for the educational process of teaching subjects.

The discipline “institutional economics” studies the structure and processes of functioning of modern market economic systems, based on the civilizational paradigm of knowledge of social processes and the consistent use of systems analysis methods. It includes the achievement of economic theory over the past decades that have manifested themselves mainly in the works of Nobel Prize winners

History of economics and economic thought

History of economics and economic thought on the methodological basis of the civilizational paradigm reveals the genesis and development of the economy of the European civilization from antiquity to modern times and the scientific reflection of these processes in economic thought based on theoretical, philosophical and national characteristics of its scientific schools and directions

The history of economic thought in Ukraine

The discipline studies historical experience of economic activity of past generations , the contribution of Ukrainian economic thought in the treasury of world economic science.
 Objective:  To learn the features of the economic development of the Ukrainian lands that were part of various states, acquaintance with historical facts and events in the economic life of the people, the disclosure of their importance in the further development of the economic system; outlining achievements of Ukrainian economic thought

Economic History examines the genesis of the economic activity of mankind from primitive society to modern, forms of economic systems that have historically existed in the societies of European civilization, the logic of the historical development of the facts and events of economic life.
Objective: reveal major historical facts and socio-economic processes that characterize the development of economics of the leading European countries on the basis of the provisions of the civilizational paradigm, the principles of system-synergetic analysis and use this knowledge to analyze the modern economy

The history of political (legal, economic) doctrines

“History of political (legal, economic) doctrines" studies the relationship of political and economic processes taking place in the national economy of societies in the European civilization.

Objective: to develop knowledge and understanding of the main areas of political and economic doctrines that influence social processes

Modern economic theories

Discipline studies main currents of economic theory at the turn of XX-XXI centuries,  modern methodology of economic analysis, the logic of the Western economic thought, the relationship of modern economic policy of individual countries with the leading theoretical concepts.

Objective: to understand the basic problems of modern economic theory, its major lines of development; to be able to systemize the knowledge about the nature and mechanisms of functioning of the economic system from the standpoint of the main schools of modern economic theory
