RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Academic Degree:  Master

Course Purpose: The overall aim of this course is that the student shall develop an ability to plan and handle all methodological choices included in a scientific examination (with particular focus on a master thesis).

Course Objectives:  to form students’ complex competences required for selection of appropriate research philosophy and research methods, approaches to research, ways of carrying out data analysis; develop the ability to apply research methods on business problems.

Learning outcomes

Having completed the course, the student will be able to:

·        differentiate between schools within the theory of economic science, identify methodology used by researcher for describing and interpreting the phenomenon of economy;

·        explain and use central concepts of business and management research;

·        formulate research problems, form theoretical frame of references needed, understand the scope and scale of empirical material needed;

·        estimate value of results obtained from business and management research and   ways for applying;

·        develop a written research proposal in the area of business and management research utilizing a logical and appropriate development of theoretical and research methods issues;

·        complete group research project, formalizing and presenting common results;

·         give an oral presentation of the research proposal and be able to defend its content;

·        analyze and provide opposition on a written research proposal in the area of business and management research;

·        have an ability to argue for all the different choices related to the research process.
