The curricula cover a range of fundamental and professionally focused disciplines making it possible to train comprehensively educated specialists. To this end, European standards of the higher education, new principles of the teaching process are implemented at the Faculty. The traditional classroom activities are filled up with the new content for the training of creative specialists thinking out of the box for the practical work in the field of landing, as these specialists must functionally be able to support the competitive national economy.
A Study Practice Bank and a dealing centre of the Brokbusinessbank operate at the Faculty. There, the students can use their theoretical knowledge in specialist subjects.
The teaching process is supported by the large library of the University consisting of foreign and own scientific and specialist publications, educational methodology materials and periodicals, as well as by the computerisation of the teaching process making it possible to improve the quality of the individual work of students. The role of a teacher is transformed into a participant of the teaching process standing on an equal footing with the students with the implementation of new forms of the organisation of the absorption of knowledge, the training programmes focused on the intensification of the educational environment of the averaged intellect and giving more room for study to the most capable students, as well as with the development of the new type of relations between teachers and students as a result of the increase in the volume of the individual assignments and the standalone course work of students on the educational material. The emphasis in the teaching process is not made only on the students' mastering the specialist knowledge and modern computer-aided technologies, but also on the profound study of foreign languages (first of all, English and German) under a special programme. To this end, there are specialised methodology offices and two well-equipped computerised class rooms connected to the Internet via the University-wide computer network. As a result of studies, the graduates from the faculty are provided with the thorough training in teaching. They are eligible for teaching economics-related disciplines.
There is a specialised classroom with the modern multimedia equipment at the Faculty. It is intended for the training courses, roundtables, and scientific conferences for students and teachers. The priority in terms of the improvement of the equipment base of the Faculty makes it possible to upgrade the computer hardware on an ongoing basis (for instance, due to the co-operation of the Faculty with the National Bank and the leading banks of the country).
The internship based in offices of the National Bank of Ukraine and banks of the second-level of the banking sector plays major role in the development of future specialists. For this reason, the Faculty has entered into co-operation agreements with leading banks providing for the internship of master students. The internship takes place during the entire academic year and is divided into two stages: firstly, the students work at their workplaces in banks on performing the internship assignments and compile their internship reports; secondly, they complete their diploma work at the same internship bases before the completion of the master programme. The students are assigned the most demanding work during the internship at banks and other organisations. Often, they get a job even before the completion of the internship. The defence of internship reports and diploma theses prepared on subjects topical for the economy are the conclusion of the practical and theoretical training. The students, as a rule, offer models and develop proposals on the improvement of activities of banks or specific organisations. This fact demonstrates their profound theoretical and practical expertise and the ability to detect economic issues on their own and to solve them successfully. This approach toward the organisation of studies makes it possible to produce accomplished specialists capable of working not only in banks, but also in other business entities and state authorities.
Considerable attention is paid by the Faculty to the research work: the scientific Olympics are organised for students annually. The winners are given a chance to have their papers published in the University's research paper collection. The best students of the Faculty take part in national and international contests, Olympics and scientific conferences with a great success. The most capable students are given a chance to study abroad; the best graduates can continue their research work in the post-graduate school, which is the major source of the teaching staff for departments of the Faculty.
Ukrainian banks are in need of Faculty graduates. For this reason, they gladly employ them. Many Ukrainian banks are managed by graduates of our Faculty. Some graduates work abroad.
KNEU pioneered the participation in the Bologna Process among the domestic education establishments. This makes it possible to raise the teaching and methodological process in the University to European standards and issue graduates a diploma, which will be recognised in the European Union countries. This will make the graduates of our Faculty even more competitive at the labour market. Teachers and employees of the Banking Faculty do a great job in this area.
The Job Placement Centre established in KNEU is supposed to assist students and ex-graduates of the Faculty with finding a job. Substantial attention is also paid to this by the Alumni Union.
Although students of the Faculty are trained for work mainly in the banking business, their thorough theoretical and practical training makes it possible for them to not only work in various sectors of the national economy, but also to get a proper place in the society. This is confirmed by the fact that there are members of parliament of Ukraine, heads of parliamentary committees, heads of executive agencies, banks and other credit institutions among our alumni. Most of them maintain close relationship with the University, the Dean's office and the departments of the Faculty and take active part in the professional orientation work, and assist with solving important issues.
