The purpose of the educational and professional program

The “Banking Business” educational and professional program is aimed at training highly qualified and competitive financial, banking and insurancespecialists,having present theoretical knowledge, methods, as well as tools and practical skills to effectively manage and regulate the banking business.

 

The features of the educational and professional program

The “Banking Business”educational-professional program focuses on the formation and development of competencies aimed at ensuring the effective management and regulation of banking business. The program structure provides dynamic, integrative and interactive masteringof modern methods necessary for: making sound management decisions; ensuring the competitiveness of banks; planning and development of bank’s strategy, design of banking business management systems; identifying and managing banking risks; analysis and evaluation of banks' activities; environmental monitoring and diagnostics; ensuring the financial stability of banks and the stable development of banking systems.

Along with the general competencies, graduates of the “Banking Business”educational-professional program possess a wide range of knowledge and skills in the fields of finance, banking management, business security, valuation and exchange activities, financial analytics. The program enables the formation of additional competencies in organizing the activities of the bank's clients, which can be applied in other business areas (besides banking); obtaining the right to take the exam in the State Property Fund of Ukraine and to obtain the qualification of certified appraiseron completion the courses of the relevant selective subjects; improvementthe level of foreign language proficiencybystudyingprofessional disciplines in English. During the course of study, students have the opportunity to take part in the joint studyat partner universities outside Ukraine.

The business partners of the program are leading domestic and foreign companies, including: KPMG, Ernst & Young, National Bank of Ukraine, State Property Fund of Ukraine; Ukrainian Interbank Currency Exchange, All-Ukrainian Association “Ukrainian Society ofAppraisers “, All-Ukrainian Association of Valuation Specialists, Ukrainian Society of Financial Analysts, Association of Ukrainian Banks, Oschadbank, Ukrgasbank, banks with foreign capital and a number of banks with private Ukrainian capital. Students deepen their professional competencies during their internship at banks, which allows them to gain experience and competitive advantages, and promotes future employment.

Employment and competitive advantages of the program graduates

The “Banking Business” program graduates can carry out professional activities at the National Bank of Ukraine, bank and non-bank financial institutions, financial departments of enterprises, educational institutions,andresearch institutions. The graduates can work as financial analysts, traders, appraisers of financial assets, financial engineers, security monitoring experts offinancial institutions. The graduates are also entitledto continue their further studies at the second (master's) level of higher education.

Program Learning Outcomes

The program is aimed at the training of banking professionals with a new creative way of thinking, capable of managing and regulating all functional areas of the bank's activities, effectively applying existing technologies and tools for making sound management decisions, developing and implementing innovative tools for banking activities.

 

Uponcompletion, the program graduates are expected toacquire the ability to: apply in-depth knowledge to substantiate management decisions in banking, to evaluate effectiveness and their consequencesthe mentioned above decisions; to systematize and analyze information to solve professional problems in the banking business; to carry out risk-oriented management of banking business; to demonstrate knowledge and skills of using modern technologies inbanking business; to reasonably select and effectively use methods and tools for monitoring the financial market and the business environment; to perform diagnostics and modeling of financial activity of banking and non-banking financial institutions;to use modern models and methods to identify threats to the banking business, to develop security measures for their prevention and overcoming, to ensure financial security of the bank's activity; to conduct marketing research,andanalyze the competitive environment, to identify and evaluate factors affectingthe bank's activities; to analyze big structured and unstructured data tomodel economic processes and phenomena; to demonstrate skills of independent work, flexible thinking, openness to new knowledge, to evaluate the results of autonomous work and manage personal and professional development.
