The "Digital Banking" educational and professional program isdesigned totrain the new generation of bankers capable of showing high performance resultsin the modern digital informationarea. The teaching places particular emphasis onhoningstudents’practical business skills in banking and software development, providingadvancedtrainingin mathematicsas wellas equipping students with a good command of foreign languages. The program aims to preparehighly qualified and competitive professionals through a comprehensive educationalapproach.

 

The features of the educational and professional program

The educational and professional program is practice-orientedincorporatingclassical disciplines(Finance, Banking and InsuranceBusiness)and innovative ones (Digital Economy, Big Data in Banking, Fundamentals of Cryptography, Product Management in Digital Banking, Fundamentals of Cybersecurity, IT project management etc). The program combines teaching professional disciplines and mathematics with software development technologies.Studentshavethe opportunity to choose three disciplines each semester for an in-depth study to delve inthe area of their interest. High level of language proficiency is achieved through delivering professional courses in English. The learning process is based on the use of interactive, combined and problematic lectures, training courses, case studies, interdisciplinary trainings held withing a framework ofa training Bank, application of the latest technologies of information visualization during the contact sessions, discussion seminars, discussion presentations, round tables with the participation of experts in Banking. The presentation skills workshopsand discussions are regularly heldbythe student "KNEU Club of Banking".

The program is implemented inclose cooperationwith leading Ukrainian and foreign scientific institutions, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Association of Ukrainian Banks (AUB), Ukrainian Interbank Currency Exchange (UICE), Ukrainian Society of Financial Analysts (UTFA), leading banks, advisingand analytical centers through engaging in-house specialists in the training process.

The program caters to thefuture bankersthinking out of the box,enabling them  tosuccessfully performin the modern digital environment, apply modernBanking technologies and tools, as well as develop and implement innovative methods and tools built on the latestscientific developments.

As a part ofthe program, students have the opportunity to benefit from attending dedicated coursesat the partner universities abroad. Business partners of the program are leading domestic and foreign companiessuch as: KPMG, Ernst & Young, National Bank of Ukraine, State Property Fund of Ukraine, Ukrainian Interbank Currency Exchange, All-Ukrainian Union «Ukrainian Society of Appraisers», All-Ukrainian Association of Evaluation Professionals, Ukrainian Association of Financial Analysts, Association of Ukrainian Banks, Savings Bank, Ukrgasbank, foreign-owned and privately-ownedUkrainian banks.

Students enhance their professional competencies during internshipin banks, that allows them to gain experience and competitiveness, facilitatestheir future career prospects.

Acquiring knowledge and professional competences is ensured by the logical structure of the syllabus and curricula taughtbothin Ukrainian and English.

The graduates of the program possess strong leadership qualities, the skills of making independent management decisions based on professional and ethical considerationswhich allow them toconduct independent scientific research, generate new ideas, develop innovative banking products, negotiate and resolve task-related conflicts, work ina team, motivate others and manage the work proceduresto achieve a common goal, thus embarking on a path of a rapid career growth.

Digital Banking graduates can choose to pursue a broad range of junior career posts in the middle level structural units ofthe central bank, second tier banks, non-banking financial institutions of all forms of business ownership (state, joint-stock, private, municipal, foreign). The graduates can work at non-bank financial institutions, such as:

  • credit unions, cooperative savings associations, asset management companies, hedge funds, investment funds, etc;
  • managers and executives in public administrationagenciesand international financial institutions related to the monetary and credit sector (National Bank of Ukraine, Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Deposit Guarantee Fund, National Securities and Stock Market Commission, International Monetary Fund, international auditcompanies and rating agencies, etc.); in consulting, financial and analytical rating agencies, financial and banking associations; in research institutes dealing with monetary problems in the field of credit relations and financial-banking activities; engage ineducational and scientific activity in the institutions of the secondary and vocational education.

Program graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies at the second (master's) level of higher education.

 

Program learning outcomes

Upon the completion of the program, the graduates will be able to:

• analyze the efficiency and reliability of digital technologies, to develop banking innovations, diagnose digital banking activities

• apply modern software, implement algorithmization of dataprocessing

• plan and organize the process of development and testing of the software system for the implementation of digital banking tasks

•apply the understanding of the full cycle of design and launch of innovative banking products based on a customer - centric approach to design thinking in digital environment

• substantiate the management strategic and tactical decisions of the bank on data-driven decision making

• identify, evaluate and prevent banking risks, including in digital banking

•analyze the trends in block chain and crypto currency technologies, identify potential areas for their application in digital banking

• develop IT project management technologies (IT-Project Management), the nexus betweenIT project management andbank strategy

•systematize and analyze information for professional decision making and scientific tasks in the field of monetary and credit relations

•substantiate, make professional decisions in the field of finance, banking and insurance and assumeresponsibility for their implementation

•manage the bankcompetitiveness, develop competitive strategies in digital markets

• think creatively and generate innovative management solutions for digital banking business.
