The purpose of the educational and professional program

The “BankingManagement” educational and professional program is aimed at training highly qualified,and competitive in the business environmentspecialists havingthe basic knowledge, able to apply technologies and practical tools for management, research and expert-analytical activitiesin the field of finance and bankingatmacroand micro levels.

 

The features of the educational and professional program

Educational and professional program is practice-oriented.The peculiarity of the program is enhanced practical training, supported bythe internshipin the Central Bank, banking institutions of different ownership (state, private, banks with foreign capital);training courses and interdisciplinary practice ata faculty training bank using real data-base of banking activities;conductingopen lectures on a regular basis by NBU specialists, bank executives, financial market analysts;participation in roundtablediscussionsand business trainings organized by the NB and large commercial banks;taking part in international competitions of student scientific papers and conferences; providing opportunities to publish students’research results in professional journals of KNEU.

During the course of study, students have the opportunity to take part in the joint studyat partner universities: Constantz University (Germany), Foggia University (Italy), Roman University La Sapienza (Italy), Western Timisoara University (Romania), the Academy in Czestochowa (Poland); participate in summer student exchange programs at Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria), Cologne International University (Germany), Goettingen University (Germany), international seminars in Redlands (USA).

Along with the general competencies acquired by the applicants, graduates of the Bank Management program possess a wide range of knowledge and skills in the field of banking management, supervision and regulation, valuation activities and financial analytics.

Students deepen their professional competences during their internships at national and international partner institutions of the university, which allows them to gain experience and competitive advantage, contributes to future employment.The business partners of the program are leading domestic and foreign companies, including: KPMG, Ernst & Young, National Bank of Ukraine, State Property Fund of Ukraine; Ukrainian Interbank Currency Exchange, All-Ukrainian Association “Ukrainian Society ofAppraisers “, All-Ukrainian Association of Valuation Specialists, Ukrainian Society of Financial Analysts, Association of Ukrainian Banks, Oschadbank, Ukrgasbank, banks with foreign capital and a number of banks with private Ukrainian capital.

Employment and competitive advantages of the programgraduates

Program graduates can work in the Central Bank, second levelbanksas well as in non-bank financial institutions of all legal forms of ownership (state, joint-stock, private, municipal, foreign).Graduates have the right to work as bank executives, non-bank financial institution executives (credit unions, asset management companies, hedge funds, investment funds, etc.), managersand executives in government and international financial institutions related to the monetary sphere (National Bank of Ukraine, Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Deposit InsuranceFund, National Committeeof Securities and Stock Market, International Monetary Fund, InternationalAuditingCompaniesand Rating Agencies, etc.), heads of departments (branch, department, division, subdivision) and managers in the banking and non-banking financial institutions; managersand executives in consulting, financial-analytical and rating agencies, financial-banking associations, in research institutions related to solving problems in the sphere of monetary relations and financial-banking activity, as educators inboth scientificinstitutions and higher educational establishments.

The Master of Finance, Banking and Insurance in primary positions is abletoperformemainly heuristic and partially diagnostic professional and social-production tasks, to perform complex economic calculations, as well as to manage specialists of the lower level.

 

Program learning outcomes

Upon completion, program graduates will acquire the ability to:

  • systematize and analyze information to solve professional monetary affairs problems;
  • substantiate directions of improvement of financial and monetary policy;
  • apply in-depth knowledge of financial management to substantiate management decisions in banking and evaluate their effectiveness;
  • monitor regulatory compliance ofbanking supervision;
  • predict trends in the development of global financial markets, identify changes in the market conditions under the influence of uncertain factors, carry out their comparative analysis, critically evaluate the consequences of management decisions;
  • carry out risk-oriented management of banking business, to identify, analyze, evaluate and hedge financial risks, to improve the risk management system of the bank;
  • demonstrate knowledge and skills of using innovative financial instruments and modern technologies of banking business;
  • reasonablyselect and effectively use innovative information-analytical systems for solving software tasks of professional activity, to carry out diagnostics and modeling of financial activity of banking and non-banking financial institutions;
  • using modern models and methods to identify crisis phenomena inside and outside the bank, to identify their interconnections, to develop measures for their prevention and overcoming, to plan anti-crisis management of the bank, to ensure financial security of the bank's activity;
  • analyze the competitive environment, systematize and conduct research on objective and subjective factors affectingthe bank's activities, develop a bank's development strategy, carry out strategic management of the bank;
  • carry out data mining;
  • analyze big structured and unstructured data and model complex economic processes and phenomena;
  • demonstrate skills of independent work, flexible thinking, openness to new knowledge, evaluate the results of autonomous work and manage personal and professional development.

All above mentioned allows to trainbank managers with a new creative way of thinking, capable of effective applying existing technologies and tools as well as developing and implementing innovative tools for banking activitiesin view of modern scientific achievements.
