Responsible corporate leadership platform

It is critical to study and research the issues of green economy and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in close connection as they are interrelated concepts that together form the basis for the sustainable development of society and business. Green economy focuses on environmental sustainability, while CSR integrates social and environmental aspects into the activities of companies, going beyond simple compliance with the law. Only a joint approach, where business consciously takes responsibility for its activities in the field of environmental safety and resource efficiency, can ensure true sustainable development.

Environmental risks and challenges of effective human capital management are among the main business risks of today. CSR is a mechanism that will help companies identify, assess and innovatively manage these risks and challenges, implementing green economy practices. Integrating green principles through CSR opens up new opportunities: access to green finance, reducing operating costs and increasing productivity, entering new markets that require modern environmental and social standards, and creating competitive advantages. Modern consumers, investors and employees increasingly value environmental and social responsibility, and green practices, supported by a systemic CSR strategy, strengthen the image and reputation of companies, and responsible investors actively invest in socially and environmentally responsible companies.

In general, the green economy provides an environmental framework, and CSR adds a social dimension (just transition, quality of life, occupational safety), ensuring that economic changes are inclusive and socially just. This has a solid foundation in the form of the ISO 26 000 standard.

This platform, created during the implementation of the YouthLeadtoEUinUAproject at KNEU, can significantly contribute to the joint research of the green economy and corporate social responsibility through the implementation of variety of educational (demonstration of best practices of green business and environmental CSR, study of the key provisions of the European Green Deal), research (selection of research topics at the intersection of the green economy and CSR, analysis and benching of the level of implementation of the principles of the green economy and CSR by Ukrainian businesses, assessment of their compliance with marked standards with subsequent development of recommendations for stakeholders) and communication functions (dissemination of EU values and approaches in the field of sustainable development and CSR) among a wide audience, as well as holding round tables and other events that bring together scientists, business representatives, government officials and the public to discuss challenges and opportunities on the way to a green economy supported by CSR).
