Academic Council
The main provisions
Academic Council - a body of collective review of critical issues of the University and the state policy in the field of education of Ukraine in accordance with the Charter of the University.
Structure and organization of work
- The Academic Council is represented by the Head of the Council (Rector) or (on his behalf) the first Vice-rector on scientific and pedagogical and scientific work or Vice-Rector, who was appointed by order of the acting rector.
- Duties of the Secretary of the Council carries out Scientific Secretary of the University, who in his activity is guided by an official instruction of Scientific Secretary of the University and reports directly to the Head of the Council (Rector).
- Meeting of the Academic Council are held under agenda approved by the Head of the Council; Secretary of the Council forms the agenda and bring it to the attention of each member of the Council no later than 7 calendar days before the meeting.
- The decision of the Council are taken by open vote, except cases required by law and these Regulations when conducting voting ballot (secret ballot).
- Decisions of the Council shall go into effect through the decisions of the Academic Council of the University, decrees and orders of the Rector of the University.
- Decisions (decrees) of the Council communicated by the Secretary of the Council to performers in writing.
- Meeting of the Academic Council are recorded in the form of minutes. Minutes shall be signed by the Head and the Secretary of the Council.
Functions
Academic Council of the University:
Submits to the highest collegial body of public authorities draft Charter and the Collective Agreement and the amendments to them.
Submit proposals to the Rector of the University as for appointment and dismissal of the library director, Vice-rectors, directors of institutes and colleges and chief accountant.
Elects by secret ballot the heads of the departments and professors.
Considers reports of Professors and Heads of Departments in connection with the termination of occupying the post.
Hears Report of the Dean in connection with the termination of occupying the post.
Elects by secret ballot candidates for the academic rank of associate professor and professor.
Considers the long-term development plans of the University, including the Strategies of Innovation University Development, Programs of University staffing and so on.
Consider the issues of the state and trends of academic, educational, research and scientific work, and international relations at the University.
Considers the issues of training of the teaching staff, postgraduate and doctoral work.
Examines and approves topics of thesis for the degree of Doctor of Economics.
Considers the preparation and publication of monographs, manuals and other scientific and educational literature.
Considers nominating university employees for state prizes, awards and distinctions.
Recommends candidates among the best undergraduate and graduate students to receive scholarships.
Decides on the organization of the educational process.
Decides on the creation or elimination of departments (faculties, departments, institutions, educational and training centers, etc.).
Considers reports on the situation in the university department, including separate structural units.
Considers the draft curriculum, establishes a list of approved programs and sciences (disciplines).
Considers and approves annual plans of training of the teaching staff.
Considers the quality of training of graduates of the University and its further improvement.
Consider the quantitative and qualitative composition of students.
Considers cooperation with the bodies of students’ government.
Considers and approves budget revenue and expenditure of the University.
Considers and approves the report on the results of financial and economic activity.
Considers the state of logistics, the efficiency of its use and development prospects.
Considers the situation and prospects of the social infrastructure of the University.
Considers issues of the activity of the Academic Council of the University, including procedural, set out in the Regulations of the Academic Council of the University.
