Taking into account the existing potential and place of the University in the system of national economic education, realizing the responsibility to society for further development and provision of practice with scientific knowledge and competitive specialists of the XXI century, the University staff defines its MISSION as making a significant contribution to social development through research, generation of new knowledge, its dissemination and training of socially responsible, creative individuals and competitive specialists.

The University continues to implement its VISION of national and international leadership and excellence in education and research.

According to the Charter, the main activities of the University include:

1. training of highly qualified specialists of the appropriate degree in selected specialties in accordance with the state (regional) order and contractual obligations;
2. training and certification of academic personnel;
3. postgraduate education and professional development of specialists;
4. research and innovative activities aimed at socio-economic development of the country, improvement of training of specialists, ensuring competitiveness of the University at the educational domestic and international level, achievement of the parameters of a research university;
5. integration of the educational process, science, and practice;
6. career guidance among applicants;
7. financial and economic, publishing, cultural, artistic, sports, and recreational activities;
8. conducting external relations with Ukrainian and foreign educational and research institutions, state and local authorities, enterprises and organizations;
9. further reform and modernization of higher education in accordance with modern requirements and achievements of Ukrainian and international science, organization of research and methodological support for training of specialists;
10. promoting the development of society on the basis of new knowledge, raising the educational and cultural level and spirituality of citizens, forming the younger generation through patriotic, environmental, informational, legal education, adherence to a healthy lifestyle, the ability to self-develop and self-organize.

The goals of the University’s strategic development for 2025–2029 have been defined as follows:

1. preserving and increasing human capital;
2. optimization of the management system and business excellence;
3. high quality of education and educational activities;
4. priority of science;
5. intensification of international partnership;
6. digitalization of the scientific and educational ecosystem;
7. resource mobilization;
8. patriotism and social consolidation.

For each of the goals of the University’s strategic development, the goal of achieving the goal, description of the current situation, operational goals, and indicators of achieving operational goals are defined.

The Roadmap for the Implementation of the Development Strategy of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman for 2025–2029 defines the ways of implementing the tasks, expected results, those responsible for implementation and the deadlines for implementation.

The Programme of Innovative Development of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman for 2025-2029 defines the main directions of innovative activity that will ensure the effective integration of the University into the European and global scientific and educational space, namely:

1. fundamental and applied research;
2. innovative activities of KNEU research institutes;
3. KNEU Science Park;
4. KNEU Startup School;
5. European digital innovation hub WIN2EDIH;
6. KNEU Centre for Entrepreneurship;
7. KNEU innovation laboratories;
8. protection of intellectual property and commercialization of innovations;
9. international innovation networks and platforms.

For each of the areas of innovation activity, the tasks and measures responsible for their implementation and expected results have been defined.

This Programme is a framework document on the basis of which it is proposed to develop programmes for the innovative development of educational, scientific and research institutes, faculties and departments of the University.
