The goal of the discipline: the general goal of teaching and studying the discipline is to form foreign language communicative competence in all types of speech activity within the framework of everyday, regional and general economic topics at the level (RVM) A1−A2+. The content of the program also provides for further movement towards RVM B1.

Interdisciplinary connections: the academic discipline "Second Foreign Language" integrates a large number of basic concepts of general theoretical and special disciplines such as: "The Art of Presentation", "Regional Studies", "Cultural Studies", "Language Culture of Business Communication", etc.

The objectives of the discipline:

– to provide a basic lexical repertoire for reading and understanding the main content of original texts (partially adapted) in the specialty and communication on professional topics;

– develop the ability to properly begin, maintain and end statements, adhering to the rules of conversation/discussion, using appropriate discursive markers;

– develop the ability to produce sufficiently clear, meaningful written speech with proper presentation of the material;

– understand normative oral speech on topics encountered in everyday life and the main ideas of speech on professional topics;

− develop the ability to form one's own opinion or attitude to a certain problem, to evaluate, analyze, formulate one's own conclusions and proposals in a second foreign language;

− promote the mobility of applicants and their competitiveness in the labor market due to proficiency in a second foreign language.

Subject of the discipline. The subject of the discipline is foreign discourse, necessary for the formation of communicative speech competence (linguistic, sociolinguistic and pragmatic) to ensure effective communication in a second foreign language in educational, social, personal (for level A2) and general economic (for level B1) spheres, using a system of relevant language and speech norms, socio-cultural knowledge, skills and abilities.

List of competencies that a student will acquire after mastering the academic discipline. Upon completion of the course, bachelors will be able to:

speak logically on familiar topics of everyday, regional, socio-cultural and general economic nature;

create a monologue on a certain range of problems related to different spheres of life; give descriptions of subjects that concern his/her interests, expressing thoughts/views with statements and relevant examples;

make prepared speeches related to the sphere of his/her interests;

understand the main ideas of speech on topics that are usually encountered in personal or socio-cultural life;

write coherent connected texts on familiar topics within their interests.
