REPORT

The project under the Program “Solidarity with Ukraine – European Universities” implemented by NAVA (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, Warsaw) CIVICA for Ukraine Faculty /Staff Short Visit in CIVICA  at IE University, Spain from 13^th  November, 2023 to 19^th November, 2023.     

The “CIVICA for Ukraine” project aims to develop and strengthen cooperation and dialogue between the CIVICA alliance and the academic communities particularly in the social sciences, humanities, management, and public policy. The project includes a variety of activities for students, doctoral candidates, faculty and staff exchanges from Ukrainian universities, such as conferences, study visits, internships, summer schools, seminars, workshops, and more. The CIVICA alliance and its member universities are committed to acting as an open university dedicated to fostering respectful dialogue, to the protection of academic freedom, autonomy and knowledge exchange, and to the fundamental EU values of justice, tolerance and solidarity.

• Presenting different types of learning materials:     

PDF Case Studies - text-based PDF as well as interactive (Multimedia) cases and  Technical Notes (provide specific theoretical information regarding a particular topic); 

Videos and Activities - help students learn new concepts on different theoretical topics and apply them and trends through practical examples: animations and interviews covering almost all areas on businesses and management; 

Multimedia Case Studies – include interactive graphs, decision trees, exercises, and more.  

Technical Notes and VR Experiences -gamification strategies, feedback, competition, role-playing, serious gaming, learning by doing, and project-based learning, among others; 

Simulations (Single-player, Multi-player) – interaction with computer or in groups by solving dilemmas and making decisions that interact and compete, to achieve the objective of the game;

• IE University Publishing Learning Materials (free access for professors and learning professionals) – About 1,200 learning materials; E-commerce.

In frame of staff and academic mobility IE University offers a wide range of perspectives to explore with KNEU: 

POTENTIAL PROJECTS FOR STUDENTS:

• Single or Double Session Online Master Class: Students from both IE and Ukrainian University can exchange and work together in zoom rooms, etc. Faculty members from both universities can collaborate to conduct the master class. Or Faculty IE professors can provide a Master class to Ukranian students in any particular expertise you might demand.
• Online Bootcamp/Challenge: Over the course of one day or a limited number of hours, mixed groups of IE and Ukrainian students can work together to prepare a solution for a particular challenge (Ukranian post-recovery, etc). The event should consist of small preparation, a challenge, and a jury award.
• Online Summer Research Program: There are two options available for this program.
  • The first option involves research about a particular issue, such as exploring historical reconstruction economics programs after war conflicts. The program should last for 2-3 months, and mixed groups of two IE and two Ukrainian students can participate.
  • The second option is a Digital Accelerator of innovative ideas. This program aims to create a digital platform for comprehensive support of talents and innovative projects from idea to commercialization to speed up post-war recovery and competitive development of Ukraine. Mixed teams of IE and Ukrainian students can participate.
• Visiting Ukrainian Students to IE:
  • Ukrainian students can be invited to participate in extracurricular activities at IE if there is some funds for it
  • Semester-long exchange program at IE (in frame of MoU and further cooperation)

POTENTIAL PROJECTS FOR FACULTY:

• Faculty Exchange: There are different options for faculty exchange programs.
  • Faculty members can participate in online programs and support their counterparts by teaching a course or improving online pedagogy.
  • Additionally, faculty members could visit Ukrainian universities for a week or less to teach in-person sessions. 
• International Research Initiatives: Faculty members can collaborate with research papers or initiatives to support global research projects. (funds for doing this are needed). Highlighted by IE University representatives the main current research interests are matching well:

 - the application of new technologies (Artificial Intelligence, virtual reality, etc.);

- Leadership; 

- Sustainability; 

- International relations and cooperation; 

- Entrepreneurship and 

- Green economy.
