DUAL-DEGREE PROGRAMME WITH STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT POTSDAM, (USA)

A distinctive dual-degree program provides an opportunity for students to obtain double bachelor's degrees in International Economics and Business Administration, facilitated through a collaboration between Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman and the State University of New York at Potsdam, USA.

This dual-degree initiative is grounded in a formally established agreement between the partner institutions. It allows students enrolled in the English-taught programme "International Economics" at Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman to complete three years of coursework at their home institution, with the option to continue their studies at the partner university in the United States during their fourth year. Throughout this fourth year, students engage in an internship, conduct research, and write a bachelor's thesis under the guidance of faculty from both universities.

Upon successful completion of the programme, students are awarded two degrees: one in International Economics from  Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman and the other in Business Administration from the State University of New York.

The fall semester courses for the fourth-year students from  Kyiv National University of Economics (KNEU) who have opted for the dual-degree programme are conducted online at SUNY Potsdam. Conversely, the spring semester courses occur on the SUNY Potsdam campus.

The dual-degree programme between KNEU and SUNY Potsdam is made possible through the dedicated involvement of both universities' rectors. During the formal opening ceremony, Dr. Philip T. Neisser, Acting Rector of SUNY Potsdam, expressed pride in establishing this partnership. “This new educational path will play a significant role in the future security and success of Ukraine. We eagerly anticipate welcoming KNEU students to our campus, where they will be well-prepared to assume leadership roles and contribute to Ukraine's reconstruction,” stated Dr. Neisser.

Doctor Gregory Gardner, Professor of Business Administration at the State University of New York at Potsdam and Honorary Doctor of KNEU, articulated the significant relevance of the dual degree programme for the American institution. He highlighted that the involvement of KNEU students and faculty would not only facilitate the introduction of American students to the economic landscape and cultural richness of Ukraine but would also position Ukrainian students  as representatives of a nation exhibiting remarkable courage and resilience in the face of aggression. Doctor Gregory Gardner further asserted, “Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman is a distinguished institution that maintains robust connections with international companies operating in Kyiv and counts many accomplished graduates among its alumni. I am profoundly impressed by the unwavering commitment of the faculty to continue teaching and administering the university despite the ongoing conflict, and it is imperative that we offer substantial opportunities for our partner university.”

To participate in the programme, students must demonstrate high academic performance and possess English language skills at the C1 level. Partner universities will select participants based on motivation letters, CVs, and recommendations submitted by the candidates.
