European University Association

The European University Association (EUA) is the representative organisation of universities and national rectors’ conferences in 49 European countries. EUA plays a crucial role in the Bologna Process and in influencing EU policies on higher education, research and innovation. Thanks to its interaction with a range of other European and international organisations, EUA ensures that the voice of European universities is heard wherever decisions are being taken that will impact their activities. The Association provides unique expertise in higher education and research as well as a forum for exchange of ideas and good practice among universities.

Mission of the EUA – supporting association members to excel in the service of society.

The EUA`s goals:  

  • Effective advocacy, impacting public policy in order to enable members’ success.
  • An Association that is alert and responsive to the needs of members, committed to solidarity and collective actions.
  • Timely and reliable identification of emerging opportunities, as well as threats to society and association`s sector.
  • Understanding the practices and capacity of association members to address societal needs and optimising this capacity through collaboration and sharing of good policies, practices, expertise and resources.

 

To achieve EUA’s vision, fulfil mission, pursue goals and stay true to EUA`s values, the Association’s work is framed by four leading actions: effective advocacy, horizon scanning, European solidarity, and enabling enhanced performance.

The results of EUA’s work are made available to members and stakeholders through conferences, seminars, websites and publications.

In 2024, Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman became a member of the European University Association.

An integral part of the European University Association is the EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) that is the largest European network in this field. EUA-CDE brings together the largest community of academic leaders and professionals working on doctoral education and research training in Europe, it brings together more than 280 members from 38 countries, including 2 members from Ukraine. Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman is a member of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education

Since its creation, EUA-CDE has been leading the transformation and strengthening of doctoral education in Europe. Building on the outcomes of EUA’s work on doctoral programmes and research careers, EUA-CDE has been the driving force behind the implementation of the Salzburg Principles and Recommendations and the promotion of doctoral education as the main intersection between the European higher education and research.
