Professional Activity

Doctor of Economics, Professor Dmytro Lukianenko is a well-known economist in Ukraine and abroad, the founder of the National Research School of International Economics. He has studied and completed research internships at leading universities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Türkiye, and China. He was a direct participant and manager of international grant projects of the European Union and the World Trade Organization.

From 2004 to the present, he has been the Chairman of the Specialized Academic Council for the Defense of Doctoral Theses in the specialty 08.00.02 — World Economy and International Economic Relations, and has prepared ???? PhDs and ????? doctors of science.

With almost 30 years of professorial practice, D.H. Lukianenko understands that it is the new quality of human resources that can ensure the humanization of global development in all its manifestations-democratization, ecologization, and socialization-on the latest intellectual basis. He argues persistently and reasonably that the intellectual mission of universities is to foster this quality.

Based on the phenomenal scientific and technological developments in the ultra-dynamic digital transformation of business, networking of the economy and society in the twenty-first century, Professor D.H. Lukianenko directs scholars on research in the methodological format, on the one hand, global trends of digitalization, networking, intellectualization and individualization, and on the other hand, the modern landscape of augmented and mixed reality within virtualization, as a result of unprecedentedly rapid progress in the latest materials, mathematics, computer science, and cryptography.

Considering the qualitative transformation of the scientific and technological paradigm of development, when it is important to identify the positives and negatives of the rapid progress of digital technologies for the labor market and education, the subject of D.H. Lukianenko’s research is the theoretical and applied principles of the phenomenon of digitalization of universities, which should interact with the state, business and network society in the system of open science, education, innovation. The expected academic and practical significance of such research will be to substantiate and implement a model for building a digital university with digitalization of the management system, educational and research activities, human capital development, infrastructure, and the creation of a digital ecosystem on the platform of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman. In recent years, D.H. Lukianenko has been focusing his research interest on the global problem of artificial intelligence and the application of its technologies in scientific and educational activities.

D.H. Lukianenko is a co-author of the Concept of Economic Independence (1991) and the Foreign Economic Policy of Ukraine (1994). He is the author and co-author of more than 300 fundamental works published in Ukrainian, English, and Polish, including 30 monographs and 40 textbooks and guides. D.H. Lukianenko has state copyright certificates for the following works: the model programme in the science “Global Economics” (2012), the monograph “Countercyclical Regulation of the Market Economy: a Globalization Perspective” (2012), Model of Preparation of Doctors of Philosophy in Economics (2015), Internationalization Strategy of the Kyiv National University named after Vadym Hetman (2016), Development Strategy of the Kyiv National University named after Vadym Hetman for 2023–2025 (2023).

Academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Member of the National Science and Technology Association of Ukraine, Member of the Ukrainian Peace Council, Member of the Advisory Board of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine.

In 2001, for his research achievements in the field of international economic integration and globalization D.H. Lukianenko was awarded the V.M. Ptukha Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine He was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (2001), the Third Class Order of Merit (2006), the Second Class Order of Merit (2012), the First Class Order of Merit (2015), and a number of industry awards, including the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine and the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

He initiated and organized the creation of the Department of Military Training at KNEU (2017). The personal volunteer activity of D.H. Lukianenko during the period of full-scale military aggression by russia is reflected in medals, awards, and gratitude from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and individual military units.
