We are happy to announce that a guest lectureby Dr. Daria Kim on the topic «Navigating Regulatory Challenges»for KNEU master’s level students of the educational and professional program "Innovative Entrepreneurship and Digital Leadership" will take place on November 8 at 11.30a.m.(Kyiv time) online in Zoom.

 

Guest lecturer: Dr Daria Kim, a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Competition and Innovation (Munich). She holds an MA (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), LLM (Munich Intellectual Property Law Center), and Dr.iur.(University of Augsburg) degrees. Her research focuses on topics at the intersection of law, technology, and society, which includesintellectual property law, governance frameworks for medical and genomic research, marketing authorisation regulations, and access to data within the context of the data economy.

 

Entrepreneurs face a complex landscape of risks and regulations in technology-based industries that can significantly impact their business activities. This lecture will provide an introduction to the basic concepts of technological risk regulation, such as technological risk and safety, regulatory compliance, product standards and testing, and conformity procedures for marketing authorisation. Beyond theory, the lecture will address practical aspects of planning and managing regulatory compliance within a company.

 

The lecture will draw on two examples of safety regulation: pharmaceuticals and artificial intelligence systems. By examining these case studies, attendees will gain a better understanding of the technology- and sector-specific challenges and requirements. The lecture will focus on universal concepts and highlight key considerations regarding technological safety compliance in the context of international trade. A closer look at Ukrainian regulation and other selected jurisdictions will be taken during the practical session.
