Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman

Economics Modelling and Information Technologies Institute

General Information

The Economics Modelling and Information Technologies Institute (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") of Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University (hereinafter referred to as the "University") was established with Order of Rector of Vadym Hetman KNEU No. 420 of 21 May 2010 "On Establishment of Research Institutes" as a structural unit of the University. The Institute was established due to the new status of Vadym Hetman KNEU as a self-governed (autonomous) national research university vested in it with Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 76 of 3 February 2010 "Some Issues of Vesting Higher Education Establishments with the Status of a Self-governed (Autonomous) National Research University".

The major objective of the establishment of the Economics Modelling and Information Technologies Institute was to set up a single research team capable of facing challenges of the contemporary economic science and meeting the needs of the economic development of the country, while relying on various methods of the economic mathematical modelling in their research. The team was established on the basis of core members of the Economic Mathematical Modelling Department with the involvement of leading specialists from other departments of the Information Systems and Technologies Faculty. In view of the university-level status of the institute, researchers from other structural units of the University will be invited to work in research team in line with the projects being implemented in accordance with their qualification.

The involvement of students, post-graduate and doctoral students of Vadym Hetman KNEU into the scientific research of the Institute is required for the efficient formation of the research potential of the University. The plans provide for the regular organisation of mass events, such as Olympiads, scientific contests, etc. in order to create conditions for the involvement of talented young people into the scientific research. The process of the integration of novel scientific technologies, modelling methods and the development of information analysis systems, as well as other scientific and instructional foreign and domestic innovations must be simplified substantially in view of the close relationship of employees of the Institute with departments of the University making it possible to develop the competencies enjoying demand on the international labour market in graduates of the University.

Plans provide for the organisation of the qualification development courses in the Institute for specialists in modelling, analysis and projection of the development of finance and economics systems and processes.

The fundamental and applied research of the Institute will be focused, first of all, toward the development of the artificial intelligence systems, expert systems, mathematical models of analysis and forecasting of the economic development, the planning and the implementation of targeted programmes using the smart modelling technologies (including those based on the theory of the fuzzy logic, neural nets, etc.). At that, the major emphasis in the activities is placed not only on the development of theoretical methods and models, but also on their practical implementation in state authorities, the banking sector, financial organisations, enterprises and holding companies, etc.
