Innovation and Intellectual Property

 

1. The learning objective of  the discipline. Its relationship with other disciplines of the curriculum.

The purpose of the discipline:to introduce students to the theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of innovation and intellectual property rights acquisition for scientific products.

Interdisciplinary links:The course "Innovation and Intellectual Property" is based on knowledge, theoretical and practical skills acquired during the study of disciplines "Philosophy of Science", "Methodology of Economic Research", "Economics of Innovation", "Innovative Development", "Creative Management» and other economic disciplines.

2. Program results and competencies that the student will acquire while studying the discipline:

Knowledge:

- gain advanced conceptual and methodological understanding of innovation and intellectual property at the boundary of the subject areas;

- master the technology of generating new knowledge and innovation, as well as to understand the logic, forms and mechanisms of acquisition and protection of copyright as a result of scientific activities;

- familiarize with a mechanism for the protection of intellectual property rights and the commercialization of the results of scientific creativity.

Skills:

- use methods and models of innovation in scientific creativity considering proper academic integrity;

- apply the norms of current Ukrainian legislation and international agreements in the field of innovation and intellectual property on the practical level;

- choose specific protection approaches  for the intellectual property rights to be applied for the result of own scientific research, elements of scientific novelty ;

- assess the value of intellectual property rights and build models for their commercialization.

 Communication:

- communicate freely on innovation and intellectual property with colleagues, a wider scientific community, society as a whole;

- use the conceptual and categorical apparatus for innovation and intellectual property in Ukrainian and foreign languages, ​​in professional activities and research.

Autonomy and responsibility:

- demonstrate authority, innovation, a high degree of independence, academic and professional integrity, consistent commitment to the development of new ideas in the  context of professional and scientific activities;

- strive for continuous self-development, self-improvement and renewal of innovative thinking at the intersection of ideas, concepts and cultures.
