Professor Dr Dr h.c. mult Ulrich Ruediger
Prof. Ulrich Rüdiger has been Rector of the University of Konstanz since 2009 and was re-elected to serve the university in this capacity until 2023.
The professor has studied physics, completed his doctorate and post-doctoral qualification at the leading universities of Germany and the USA (Aachen, New York and San José). He is an acknowledged expert in the field of experimental solid-state physics as well as in mathematics and informatics. For a long time he was dean of studies at the Department of Physics and vice-rector for research. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to science, he received the “Ordre des Palmes Académiques”, one of the highest awards of France, as well as an honorary doctorate from the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics in Moscow.
Dr. Rüdiger is active in numerous organisations: He is Vice-President for Research and Early Career Researchers of the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) as well as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Seewiesen and Radolfzell. He is also a member of the working group University / Economy of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA), a member of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), a management board member of the Technologiezentrum Konstanz (technology centre Konstanz) and advisory board member of Sparkasse Bodensee.
Prof. Rüdiger is an active supporter of the development of relations with KNEU, an evidence to this being a scientific conference held jointly with the University of Konstanz in November 2015 that allowed not only to draw conclusions of 25-year long mutual cooperation but to define future prospects.
The title of Honorary Doctor of KNEU has been conferred on him on November 24, 2017 according to the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute of Information Technologies of KNEU of June 12, 2017 and the resolution of the Academic Council of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman of September 28, 2017.
